What is the purpose of a Care Group?
We know that sometimes it’s difficult to build relationships just on Sundays, so Care Groups will be a way to provide community and connection for every person that attends Discovery. It is vitally important to us that everyone feels apart and you always have a person of contact. We don’t want anyone to feel like they are doing life alone and care groups are here to encourage and care for you along your journey with Christ.
Ministry and outreach: Care Groups will have multiple opportunities to minister with their groups during the year. Whether that is a meal preparation for a special event at Discovery, outside the church walls such as meeting the needs of the homeless, or meeting the needs directly within in your Care Group such as providing meals to new parents. Every Care Group’s ministries and outreach can and are encouraged to be unique to your group. We are excited to see how everyone will be the hands and feet of Jesus.
When will Care Groups take place?
Along with ministry opportunities, social events and a place to be cared for, Care Groups will meet once a month for a time of food/ fellowship and a Bible study. These once a month times usually last for around 1 1/2 hours. Times and locations are specified by our care group leaders. We are believing that these once a month times to gather will increase discipleship and allow for a time to get to know each other.
What if I can’t attend the monthly Bible study?
If you can’t attend the monthly Bible study, no problem! We totally understand everyone’s lives and schedules look different. We still want you to sign up to be apart of a Care Group so our Care Group Leaders can minister to you effectively and allow you to have involvement when your schedule allows.
The Pastoral Staff and Care Group Leaders are so excited to get you involved! We can’t wait to see what kind of impact you will have inside and outside of Discovery.
